Production Manager – Furniture Manufacturing / Woodworking / Joinery
We are a growing high-quality furniture manufacturing company, specialising in solid wood and veneered furniture for premium residential and commercial markets in the Western Cape. We pride ourselves on craftsmanship, innovation, and operational excellence.
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead our workshop operations in Durbanville. You will be responsible for overseeing the full manufacturing operation, including production planning, quality control, people management, health and safety compliance, efficient resource management, machinery oversight, and cost control. This role ensures that products are manufactured efficiently, safely, on time and to the required quality standards, while driving continuous improvement and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
§ Plan, schedule and manage daily and weekly production to meet delivery deadlines and quality standards.
§ Lead and manage a workshop team consisting of supervisors, carpenters, machinists, finishers, and assembly staff.
§ Implement lean manufacturing principles, workflow optimisation, and cost control.
§ Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
§ Oversee machinery usage, preventative maintenance and minimisation of downtime.
§ Manage materials, stock levels, and waste reduction.
§ Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and output
§ Collaborate with design, procurement, and logistics teams to meet client requirements.
§ Prepare production reports and KPIs for management review.
Required Qualifications & Experience
§ Minimum 5 years’ experience in woodworking/furniture manufacturing, preferably in a supervisory or management role.
§ Strong understanding of processes, materials machinery and finishes, particularly as it applies to solid wood and veneered furniture production techniques.
§ Experience with CNC machinery, assembly processes, finishing, and quality control.
§ Proven ability to manage teams, schedules, and production budgets.
§ Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
§ Sound knowledge of health and safety, and regulatory standards in manufacturing environments.
§ Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
§ Diploma/degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field is preferred.
