Description:
A well-established precision mechanical engineering company based in Maitland is seeking a skilled Press Setter Operator to join their high-volume production environment.
This role focuses on the setup and operation of progressive punch presses to produce precision metal stamped components for the defence industry.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12
Trade Tested (essential)
Proven experience as a Press Operator / Press Setter in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of progressive press machinery
Experience with Hydraulic, Eccentric Driven, Punch and Arch Presses
Ability to set tools, feeders, and associated press equipment
Skilled in using measuring instruments and gauges
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
Fluent in English or Afrikaans
Willing to work shifts
SA Citizens only
Must be Criminal Clear
Must reside in the Greater Cape Town area
Key Responsibilities
Setup & Operation
Set up and operate punch press machines using progressive dies
Work from blueprints and manufacturing instructions
Perform stamping, forming and inspection of components
Submit first-off and last-off components for approval
Ensure correct materials are issued from stores
Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform daily routine maintenance checks
Troubleshoot press and tooling issues
Monitor performance and adjust machines to ensure efficiency
Maintain machines to prevent breakdowns and downtime
Quality & Inspection
Inspect stamped components using measuring tools, gauges, microscopes and shadowgraphs
Identify cosmetic and dimensional defects
Ensure adherence to ISO st
