Compensation & Role Context
Salary: USD 4,0005,000 per month (all-inclusive: car, Wi-Fi, laptop, expenses). Incentives: As per company policy. The company already has customers and sales in South Africa this role focuses on expanding regional business. Preference for candidates with Indian or European origin backgrounds common in the SA chemicals trading market. Not a senior role they want someone hungry, driven, and wellâ??connected in the local industry. Must come from commodity chemicals trading for lubricants (not specialty chemicals or pharma). Position OverviewThe Overseas Business Development Manager identifies, develops, and grows international petrochemical business opportunities while expanding the customer base in the region.
Key Responsibilities (Shortened)
Conduct market research and identify growth opportunities. Build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners. Develop strategies for entering and expanding in new markets. Lead sales activities, negotiate contracts, and manage pricing. Collaborate with marketing, production, and logistics teams. Ensure compliance with local/international regulations and trade laws. Provide regular reports on sales performance and market conditions.Qualifications
510 years in petrochemicals/chemical trading. Chemical Engineering qualification preferred; MBA/International Business advantage. Experience selling chemicals/solvents into sectors such as:Packaging, inks, paints, resins, detergents, cosmetics, adhesives, lubricants, oilfield chemicals, agrochemicals.
Candidate Requirements
5+ years B2B sales/marketing of raw materials, specifically solvents and industrial chemicals. Experience in supply chain (SEA shipments), market analysis, demand forecasting. Strong skills in onboarding new accounts and growing existing customers. Excellent communication and proactive sales engagement. Valid driving licence. Knowledge of chemical regulations, customs, ports, logistics, and cross-border transport. Endâ??toâ??end sales cycle management: tenders, negotiations, orders, followâ??ups. Prepare sales and competitive analysis reports. Manage customer relationships, resolve issues, and maximize revenue opportunities. Build and grow the sales pipeline; prospect new accounts. Coordinate with transporters and shipping agents for operations efficiency.
