Description:

Join a global leader that manufactures its product range in Europe and China, is over 100 years old and is a household name all over the world. It has had a presence in South Africa for many decades, and the local Company imports all inventory from overseas. It needs to be emphasised that the South African Subsidiary employs a relatively small number of staff but nevertheless generates a high turnover and this is due to a number of the Business Divisions being contracted out to third parties and the staff are often used as back-up for other functions.

This position reports into the Financial Head of Accounting.

Key performance areas, inter alia, include:

  • In-depth reporting using a number of in-house packages.
  • The reporting will include monthly Management Pack to local OPCO, reporting to the Head Office in Europe, providing additional notes to the Financial Statements, especially on a quarterly basis and there will be Cost Centre reporting via SAP.
  • Closing off the Month-End, reconciliations and preparation of all the General Ledger Journals
  • Reporting on Monthly Currency Fluctuations as well as Transfer Price Reporting and analyses. This will include on-demand and Credit Note requests.
  • Being involved in reporting on Rebate Agreements. This will be complex and is prepared via SAP. It is closely aligned with Accounts Receivable and Sales.
  • In-depth involvement in the Year-End Audit and the preparation thereof and which has stringent deadlines.
  • Furthermore, prepare Selling Expense reporting and be involved in money transfer obligations.
  • Inter-Company Clearing Accounts and Goods-in-Transit reconciliations.
  • Oversee payments and collections and do monthly Bank reconciliations.
  • Back-up functions including Foreign Payments and Freight Payment reconciliations.

    Requirements:

    • B. Compt or similar qualification where the major subjects include Accounting and Auditing and with the requisite experience.
    • Working knowledge of SAP/R3 advantageous or equivalent ERP Package as a prerequisite, advanced Excell skills and Power BI is highly recommended.
    • Able to multi-task and work to stringent Legal Accounting deadlines which includes monthly, quarterly and year-end.
    • Furthermore, there are often ad hoc requests from the European Holding Company and it is expected that the information required is prepared and completed timeously.
    • Able to work with a multi-disciplinary Team, including Sales, Logistics etc.
    • Self-driven, disciplined and proactive personality, assertive, excellent work ethic, completely reliable and able to work overtime as and when required.
