Description:
This role is ideal for a seasoned seafreight professional with 5-7 years recent import controlling experience within the clearing and forwarding industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end import process, coordinating international freight movements, ensuring compliance, maintaining accurate shipment documentation, and delivering a high standard of customer service in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Duties:

Manage the end-to-end import process for seafreight shipments

Coordinate forwarding, clearing, and transport of import cargo

Liaise with shipping lines, agents, transporters, and internal teams

Handle invoicing and full administration of shipment files

Arrange insurance cover and manage claims where required

Ensure compliance with customs, regulatory, and quality management requirements

Maintain accurate shipment data and documentation

Provide guidance and support to Import Controllers and Learners

Deliver high-quality customer service in a fast-paced environment

Attend to ad hoc operational duties as required
Education & Experience:

Matric (Grade 12)

Relevant freight forwarding or logistics qualification (NQF Level 4 or 5, or equivalent)

5-7 years recent import controlling experience within the clearing and forwarding industry

Proven end-to-end seafreight import process experience

Strong knowledge of international freight movements and import documentation

Sound working knowledge of ShipShape (advantageous)

Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven logistics environment
