Job DescriptionThe Junior Guide supports the guiding and guest experience team in delivering exceptional safari experiences. This role is ideal for a passionate individual at the start of their guiding career who is eager to grow, learn, and contribute to the overall success of lodge operations.The Junior Guide assists with game drives, guest activities, lodge operations, and conservation awareness while maintaining the highest standards of safety, service, and professionalism.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist senior guides in conducting game drives, bush walks, and safari activitiesHost guests professionally and ensure a memorable and safe wilderness experienceDeliver basic interpretive information on wildlife, ecology, and conservationMaintain guiding equipment, vehicles, and guest areas in excellent conditionEnsure compliance with safety procedures and reserve regulationsAssist with vehicle checks, radio communication, and trip preparationSupport conservation initiatives and report wildlife sightings and concernsContribute positively to team morale and lodge cultureParticipate in ongoing training and development programsRepresent the lodge in a professional, friendly, and knowledgeable manner at all times Qualifications & Certifications- FGASA Level 1 (minimum requirement)
- Valid PDP / PrDP
- First Aid certification
- Rifle competency (preferred)
- Valid driver’s licence
- Valid medical certificate (advantageous)
- Entry-level guiding experience or completion of a recognised guiding training programme
- Practical bush experience is highly advantageous
- Previous hospitality exposure beneficial
- Passion for wildlife, conservation, and guiding
- Strong communication and guest engagement skills
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Calm, responsible, and safety-focused approach
- Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all conditions
- Professional presentation and conduct
- Enthusiastic, motivated, and reliable
- Honest and ethical work approach
- Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and environments
