Minimum requirements for the role:
A tertiary qualification in either chemistry or chemical engineering or environmental science, or a related field is pref but not essential. Previous experience having worked within the water treatment or related industry is essential for the role. Previous experience having worked in a managerial role managing and leading a team of sales and service staff. Demonstrated ability to build, inspire, and lead high-performing teams across functions (sales, operations, service). Proven ability to develop and articulate a clear regional strategy aligned with corporate goals. Strong understanding of industrial market dynamics in Gauteng and broader South Africa. Ability to identify growth opportunities, streamline operations, and enhance market penetration. Demonstrated success in managing multi-disciplinary sales teams and achieving sales targets. Technical knowledge of water treatment processes, chemistry, and equipment (boiler, cooling, wastewater, reverse osmosis, etc.). Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strategic thinker with analytical and problem-solving capabilities. The candidate must have strong boiler, cooling water and effluent water treatment experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Managing and driving a sales and technical team at customer sites within the industrial, mining and related water treatment markets, ensuring that the company achieves the revenue, profitability, and market share objectives aligned with the companys portfolio of water treatment chemistry, design, and equipment offerings. Preparing and achieving regional sales budgets. Responsible for achieving budgeted sales and profit plan and responsible for the sales and servicing of customers. Accompanying sales and service staff when visiting all strategic and major accounts in your region, in order to ascertain account status. Training, coaching and motivation of all staff members in the region. Supplying the direct manager with a monthly regional report outlining the regions activities, sales results and opposition activities. Analysing, evaluating and reviewing progress goals and if necessary, change sales strategies and/or plans with the approval of your senior manager. Attending sales, technical and customer conferences, exhibitions and meetings, join professional societies in order to stay abreast of market/industry developments. Develop and implement district sales strategies aligned with regional and national objectives. Lead the district to meet or exceed sales targets for water treatment chemicals, systems, and equipment.
