REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12 Valid Refrigeration Certificate 5-8 years’ experience in the refrigeration field A valid driver’s licence is advantageous Basic knowledge of maintenance universal best practices Basic knowledge of electrical maintenance Knowledge of refrigeration principles and best practices Self-management skills Strong supervisory and conflict management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational and people management skills Excellent time management skills Attention to detail Analytical skills Must be able to multitask and work under pressureRESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate, guide and monitor operations by the operators in the ice plant Execute all duties that relate to the production of ice to support production processes Inspect working equipment before start-up each morning and record any defects that may require repairs Conduct weekly and monthly checks of the ice plant tooling and machinery, and record any defects that may require repairs Troubleshoot and attend to machinery breakdowns at the ice plant, which may include the requirement of availability for standby and call-out duty Attend to planned and preventative maintenance jobs as required Integrate into the ice plant team as a support when electrical expertise is required and during the execution of cross-functional projects Supervise and coach junior team members Order consumables required at the ice plant and further ensure that proper housekeeping is done regularly Start and prepare ice-making machines for ice production Load ice onto vessels, trucks and ground vehicles as required Check the functionality of equipment using a daily checklist, and further conduct monthly audits and record all findings Conduct general maintenance on ice plant machinery, further assisting in ice plant preventative maintenance jobs Conduct housekeeping regularly, adhering to Health and Safety legislative protocols Coordinate the execution of basic maintenance jobs, working with the ice plant team Compile hourly checklists that record ice making and submit to the maintenance administrator clerk for capturing Act as a liaison with the refrigeration service provider when any problems are encountered with the machinery Schedule shifts of operators and further monitor performance, and conduct Execute any other function as instructed by the maintenance manager Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment, compliance with mechanical codes and adherence to safety regulations Ensure relevant maintenance parts are sourced and reported in a timely manner to minimise disruption
