Procurement Manager

Job Purpose:
The Procurement Manager is functionally responsible for ensuring Team Metrics are attained regarding supplier performance as well as ensuring effective material planning and procurement of components is performed using tools available to fullest capacity. Responsible for supplier selection and management, support of plant goals and production requirements; will work in alignment with Corporate and Divisional representatives to ensure commodities are managed in compliance to company’s initiatives. The manager directs the work of Buyers and is responsible to ensure development/career plans are created and implemented.
Job Description:

Develops standardized purchasing strategies and sourcing options through supplier interviews and visits in conjunction with other departments to support operations supply requirements.
Gathers data for analysis of quality, price, terms, conditions, capacity, manufacturing capability, financial condition, and supplier labour related issues.
Develops expectations process for negotiation with suppliers regarding price, terms, quality, tooling, etc.
Develop and implement tools to ensure adequate supplier capacities are in place to support operation plans
Develops and implement procedures to manage the Company's paid tooling within the supply base.
Develop and maintain on-going ethical supplier relationships, which foster a desire to furnish new ideas, and promote cooperation with the company on an on-going basis.
Coordinates the exchanges of technical information regarding product and product processing with adequate safeguards for confidentiality.
Develops and participate (as required) in negotiation process of company's claims (i.e., Cost, Time rework, scrap, and labour, sorting charges) with suppliers regarding non- conforming material.
Participates in teams working towards continuous process improvements, elimination of waste, simultaneous engineering, and advance product quality planning.
Develops purchasing strategies to meet the changing manufacturing footprints and new technical requirements of product engineering. Develop and implement a material cost reduction strategy (including negotiated savings, resource plans and supplier process improvements).
Coordinates development of purchasing cost models which will allow the company to negotiate supplier spend based on cost not quotes.
Manages the development of purchasing strategic spends and plans. Develops and negotiate supply agreements as required.
Develop objectives and assist Buyers in delivering to meet plant goals
Obtain information for material planning and forecasting purposes, maintain inventory levels within established objectives
Create commodity plans; negotiate win- win with suppliers on pricing; payment terms delivery, stocking programs, etc.
Establish and implement supplier analysis, evaluate competitive offering, cost benefit analysis
Timely resolution of invoices, receipt discrepancies, etc to minimize AP HOLD
Complete annual performance evaluation/mid- year progress revies for all direct reports, identify opportunities for development and support employee through on-going coaching/counselling. Fully deploy performance evaluations within the department, meeting all requirements and due dates.
Ensure that supplier spend contribute to 40 Points + contribution of BBBEE certification

Requirements:

Other Skills, Qualifications & Competencies

Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management/ or Business Administration/ or Logistics
Knowledge and experience on ERP systems
5 – 10 years of relevant experience procurement or supply chain experience
Proven experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and strategic sourcing.
Industry-specific procurement experience is advantageous.
The successful candidate shall be self-motivated, target driven and able to work independently with good communication skills on a senior level.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills
