IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanized state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”.Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
• Grade 12
• Valid Diesel Mechanic, Electrical or Fitter Engineering Trade Certificate
• First Aid will be advantageous
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a TMM Artisan (Diesel Mechanic / Automotive / Electrical, etc.) in a mining operation, including at least 3 years in underground mining.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role (TMM Foreman or higher) within a mining operation.
• Familiar with mining process and maintenance requirements of related equipment and structures
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• People Management
• Sound planning (time management), leading and organisational abilities
• Computer literate MS Office Suite
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
• Ensure the safe, efficient and productive engineering maintenance of all equipment
• Ensure the safe installation of all machinery and equipment in their area of responsibility
• Co-ordinate maintenance and statutory inspections and audits
• Ensure the execution of scheduled and non-scheduled mechanical repairs and installation work as required
• Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform them on maintenance activity performance and availability of equipment
• Support the overall business management of the site
• Achieve and, where possible, exceed monthly production targets
• Lead and supervise a team of subordinates
• Properly plan and implement systems to control the work output and quality of the subordinates
• Build a strong and motivated team
• Offer coaching and on-the-job training to ensure maintenance according to organisational standards
• Contribute actively to the training, professional development and adaptation of Ivanplats workers in accordance with the laws and regulations
• Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget.
• Perform administrative duties to ensure record accuracy and availability, budget compliance as well as spares availability
• Assist the Manager with preparation of budgets and monitoring of related expenditure

• Required to work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done
• Review daily, weekly, monthly production targets and plan/schedule production activities accordingly
• Defines short term objectives for direct reports within the functional area
• Drives team member performance by conducting Performance & Development reviews. Take necessary action on poor performers
