Description:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSDegree in Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar Technical certifications advantageous 10+ years in agricultural or heavy-equipment fleet management Proven experience managing large, ageing, mixed-brand fleets Strong background in maintenance optimisation and cost control Experience operating across multiple regions or sites Solid understanding of tractors, implements, and agricultural machinery Ability to assess mechanical condition and economic viability of equipment Comfortable working with maintenance data and operational KPIs Hands-on and field-oriented Structured and disciplined Strong on execution and follow-through Comfortable operating in legacy, imperfect environments Cost-conscious and detail-driven Able to impose order without bureaucracy
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
End-to-end fleet operations
Direct operational responsibility for all mechanisation assets across regions Ensure fleet availability meets seasonal agricultural demand Coordinate deployment to minimise idle time and unnecessary movement Maintain continuity of mechanised operations during peak field windows
Legacy fleet management & asset optimisation
Take full ownership of performance of ageing and mixed-brand equipment Classify assets by operational condition and remaining useful life Decide repair, partial overhaul, cannibalisation, or parking of units Prevent non-viable assets from consuming spare parts and labour
Maintenance & workshop performance
Implement preventive maintenance regimes appropriate for older equipment Reduce repeat failures through root-cause analysis Improve workshop turnaround time and repair quality Control maintenance labour hours and eliminate low-value repair activity
Spare parts & inventory control
Spare parts planning, consumption tracking, and cost control Reduce emergency purchases and uncontrolled parts usage Track spare parts consumption per tractor and per operating hour Rationalise inventory across multiple brands and models Work with Procurement to improve pricing, availability, and supplier discipline
Fleet cost & performance management Establish and maintain a centralised fleet register Track key fleet KPIs Produce regular fleet performance and cost reports for management
Fuel & utilisation discipline Monitor fuel consumption by machine and operation Identify
