Job Description

The AI Engineer designs, develops, and implements artificial intelligence solutions aligned with business objectives within the banking and finance sector. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance data-driven decision making, optimise customer experience, and improve operational efficiency through AI technologies. The position is based onsite in Johannesburg and requires a proactive approach to problem solving and innovation within a fast-paced environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy AI models and algorithms to support banking and financial services applications.
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and business analysts to understand requirements and translate them into scalable AI solutions.
• Maintain and optimise existing AI systems, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and performance.
• Conduct research on emerging AI technologies and incorporate relevant advancements into current projects.
• Implement machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision techniques as required.
• Ensure compliance with data security, privacy regulations, and organisational policies when handling sensitive financial information.
• Document development processes, model architectures, and test results comprehensively.
• Provide technical support and training where necessary to stakeholders and end users.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development practises.
• Manage project timelines and deliverables effectively within the contract period.

  Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline. (Please provide copies of qualifications and ID when applying)
  • Proven experience in developing AI or machine learning solutions, preferably within the banking and finance sector.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Experience with AI frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or similar.
  • Familiarity with data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, validation, and deployment.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms and services that support AI workloads.
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets and translate business problems into AI solutions.
  • Good communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
