The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical People Payroll Administrator to manage the accurate and compliant processing of payroll. This role is critical in ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time, while maintaining full compliance with South African payroll legislation and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately collate, validate and capture payroll data

  • Process monthly payroll inputs in line with approved schedules

  • Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies

  • Extract and distribute payroll reports and related deliverables

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including PAYE, UIF and SDL

  • Maintain payroll records in accordance with audit and governance standards

  • Support payroll audits and internal reporting requirements

  • Assist with ad hoc payroll and People administration tasks



Requirements

Qualifications

  • Payroll Administration qualification (required)

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Financial Accounting, Finance or a related field (advantageous)

Experience

  • 3–5 years’ payroll experience, including full-cycle payroll processing

  • Proven experience managing payroll within a South African legislative framework

  • Experience working on Sage 300 People (advantageous)

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel (including XLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables)

  • Strong numerical and analytical capability

Competencies

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong problem-solving ability

  • Effective time management and organisational skills

  • Ability to prioritise and meet strict deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
