Job Description:Seeking a qualified Toolmaker with Grade 12, Red Seal certification, and 20+ years experience in toolmaking or precision machining. Work in a high-volume production environment handling machine setup, programming, tooling maintenance, quality checks, and troubleshooting. Ideal candidate are independent problem solvers with strong mechanical knowledge, accuracy, and a focus on quality and safety. Training and upskilling opportunities are provided. Requirements / Qualifications:- Grade 12 and Red Seal Toolmaker.
- 20+ years’ experience in toolmaking or precision machining.
- Hands-on experience in high-volume mechanical engineering environments.
- Strong knowledge of gear cutting machinery, milling machines, presses, pneumatic and hydraulic tooling.
- Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and maintain older mechanical machines.
- Capable of learning new systems, reading manuals, and adopting new methods.
- Programming knowledge (where applicable) and strong setting expertise.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- English and Afrikaans proficiency.
- Set up and program machinery for second operations production.
- Ensure first-time-right setups and stable production meeting engineering targets.
- Train and support operators, including IMDS checks and standardized work.
- Manufacture, assemble, and maintain tooling and fixtures.
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions on machines and tooling.
- Inspect first-off samples and act on quality feedback.
- Uphold safety and housekeeping standards (5S) and participate in audits.
- Communicate clearly with Team Leaders and operators regarding setups, deviations, and improvements.
- Advanced mechanical intuition and problem-solving under pressure.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to quality, accuracy, and consistent output.
- Effective knowledge transfer and operator support mindset.
- Ability to maintain stability and performance in high-pressure production environments.
