IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”.This role offers the opportunity to design and institutionalize the operational commercial control environment of a growing PGM mining operation transitioning toward production maturity. The successful candidate will play a central role in protecting value, strengthening governance, and elevating the Company’s commercial discipline.
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- Postgraduate diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying
- Master's in Quantity Surveying or Engineering (Advantageous)
- Registered professional with SACQSP
- Cost Engineering, Financial & Project Management (programme/Training)
- Contract Law & Advanced Cost Control courses (Advantageous)
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
- Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in mining, heavy industrial or infrastructure environments.
- Manage commercial aspects of IVP operation, including cash flow, cost control, procurement, and contract administration
- Verify monthly invoices and valuations through site quantity measurement prior to project manager approval
- Facilitate contract correspondence and attend technical meetings
- Develop and implement dashboards to track invoice approval and payment progress
- Review bonds, indemnities, guarantees, and insurance documentation
- Prepare extension of time (EoT) requests and variation orders in collaboration with project engineers
- Conduct quarterly performance appraisals for external professionals and contractors
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
- Design and implement a formal operational commercial control framework.
- Establish standardised certification protocols and documentation requirements.
- Implement structured cost forecasting and variation tracking systems.
- Develop operational cost dashboards aligned with Finance.
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced professional knowledge in cost engineering and contract management
- Familiarity with GCC / FIDIC / NEC / JBCC conditions of contract
- Proficient in financial management, procurement processes, and dashboard/reporting tools
