To ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of ready-mix concrete trucks, batching plant equipment, and associated machinery in order to minimize downtime and support continuous production.
Education and Experience:
Grade 12/ Matric Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic or equivalent (Advantageous) Proven experience working with ready-mix concrete trucks or heavy commercial vehicles and Batching plants or similar industrial equipment Sound knowledge of Diesel engines, Hydraulics and pneumatics, Electrical fault-finding Ability to work independently and under pressure Valid driver’s license (Code 10 or Code 14 advantageous) Willingness to work overtime and attend breakdowns when required
Responsibilities:
Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on: Ready-mix concrete trucks Batching plant equipment Diesel engines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and perform effective repairs Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance Inspect vehicles and plant for safety, reliability, and compliance Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records Attend to breakdowns on-site and in the field as required Ensure workshop tools and equipment are properly maintained Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards Communicate equipment status to drivers, plant operators, and supervisors Identify required parts and assist with stock control
Competencies/ Skills:
Concrete batching systems and control panels Welding and basic fabrication skills Computer literacy for maintenance reporting Knowledge of transport and road regulations Experience in construction or industrial environments Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability Effective time management and Safety-conscious approach Physically fit for workshop and site-based work Able to work in dusty, noisy, and outdoor environments
