We are seeking a detail oriented and driven Financial Accountant to take ownership of a core accounting function and support the broader finance team. This role is ideal for a candidate with a relevant accounting degree and completed accounting articles, who is ready to apply their technical knowledge and lead a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage a team within a core accounting function of the finance department.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of accounting transactions, including reviews, reconciliations, and controls.
- Maintain and review key accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
- Prepare and review monthly reconciliations, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end close activities and contribute to the preparation of financial reports.
- Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards and statutory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and providing clear explanations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve queries and continuously improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Completed or spent time serving accounting articles (SAIPA/SAICA/CIMA/other recognized body).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and creditors management.
- High proficiency in MS Excel and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
