I'm recruiting on behalf of my client for a Senior Taxologist focusing on strategic tax change, to help drive digital transformation across a large, complex Financial Services environment. This is not a compliance-only role. Youll join a leading Financial Services group operating across South Africa and the wider African region. The business is investing heavily in digital transformation and modernising its tax function from the inside out. This role supports enterprise-wide transformation across people, process and technology. Youll work closely with senior stakeholders, IT teams and tax specialists to embed digitalisation, automation, and a data-centric mindset across the tax function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the transition of people, processes, and technology in line with the tax digital transformation strategy.
- Embed digitalisation across the tax function through automation, data analytics, and modern tax systems.
- Lead and support end-to-end solutions delivery for tax technology and change initiatives.
- Collaborate with IT to design, implement, and support integrated tax systems and tools.
- Translate business and executive tax requirements into practical, value-driven technology solutions.
- Support a data-centric approach that improves reporting, accuracy, and decision-making across tax.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Relevant qualification in Tax, Finance, Accounting, or similar.
- 35 years experience in tax technology, tax change, tax transformation, or a similar environment.
- Experience within the Financial Services, Banking, or complex corporate environments is highly beneficial.
- Exposure to indirect tax systems and tax process automation.
- Experience delivering projects with multiple milestones and dependencies.
- Strong understanding of tax technology and enterprise systems (e.g. SAP and source systems).
- Experience with tax tools, such as Vertex, Avalara, or similar platforms.
