A supplier of hardware products to large retail and hardware store groups is seeking driven External Sales Representatives to expand product placement and distribution within national and regional hardware retailers. This remote, field-based role focuses on opening new retail accounts, securing listings, and building long-term relationships with store owners, buyers, and regional decision-makers. The role is suited to a commercially minded sales professional who understands retail environments, merchandising, and the demands of placing products into competitive store networks.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Source and secure new hardware retail customers, including independent and large-format stores
- Drive product listings and placement within hardware and building supply stores
- Build and maintain strong relationships with store managers, buyers, and regional decision-makers
- Conduct store visits, presentations, and product demonstrations where required
- Follow up on pricing, listings, orders, and repeat business
- Monitor competitor activity and identify market opportunities
- Achieve agreed sales and distribution targets
- Maintain accurate sales records, reports, and client documentation
- Represent the business professionally and ethically at all times
- Comply with confidentiality requirements, company policies, and reasonable instructions

- External Sales Experience: 2 to 3 years
- Grade 12 / Matric essential
- 2–3 years’ experience in a similar external sales role
- Experience selling hardware, building materials, tools, or related retail products (essential or highly advantageous)
- Proven ability to place products into retail or hardware store environments
- Own reliable vehicle essential
- Valid driver’s licence essential
- Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote, target-driven role
