Introduction:
Komatsu South Africa is seeking a highly skilled Specialist: Remanufacturing Materials Requirements/Demand Planning to join our Reman Division. This Specialised Diagnostic Level role is integral to ensuring the availability, accuracy, and efficient planning of remanufactured components and raw materials that support our mining and construction OEM operations.
Job responsibilities:
Materials Requirements Planning & Execution
- Execute and update a targeted plan for remanufactured components and cores (WSP, WES, WSH, WSE)
- Develop and maintain customer component forecast databases
- Forecast RM/PEX component usage
- Liaise with Branch and Depot Managers to ensure customer forecast accuracy
- Ensure component availability—either rebuilt (RM/PEX) or new
- Plan and execute core returns to Global RM factories
- Maintain emergency stock levels
- Forward plan all repairable components
- Generate OEM material schedules to meet demand
- Coordinate ordering through to delivery, including mitigating material shortages
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Facilitate planning meetings
- Communicate schedules, forecasts, and deviations timeously
- Maintain close interaction with Production Work Order Planners and WIP Expeditors
- Liaise with global suppliers on component sourcing
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure on‑time material delivery
Monitoring & Control
- Monitor system data integrity and ensure inventory accuracy
- Check Bills of Materials and validate inventory levels
- Minimise obsolete stock and reduce liability
- Conduct inventory checks to ensure system accuracy
- Assess planning assumptions vs. actual volumes
- Resolve MRP-related queries
- Track progress against plans
Reporting
- Maintain up‑to‑date plans
- Report issues and escalations immediately
- Produce standard monthly reports
- Provide input for OEM reporting
- Gather and analyse MRP metrics and statistics
