Key Responsibilities:Advise on material selection and procurement for boilers and pressure vessels. Review and apply national and international standards on design, manufacture, and materials. Perform metallurgical inspections, including hardness testing, material replication, and failure analyses. Support quality control procedures for manufacturing and heat treatment processes. Provide metallurgical support to various departments and deliver technical training when required. Maintain supplier relationships and attend inspections, exhibitions, and technical meetings. Skills & Knowledge:
Industrial boiler design (shell and tube, watertube). Combustion processes and heat distribution. Boiler water treatment and circulation. Pressure vessel manufacturing and life assessment. Corrosion mechanisms, metallurgy of alloy steels. Failure mechanics and microstructural evaluations. Clear and professional communication and reporting skills. Location: Bellville, Cape Town Salary: Market-related, dependent on experience.
