A well-established Sanitaryware Retailer is seeking a Sales Assistant who is passionate about plumbing products and delivering excellent customer service. The ideal candidate must have Matric and a proven track record in plumbing sales and be able to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist walk-in customers, contractors, plumbers, and DIY enthusiasts with product selection, advice, and recommendations on plumbing fittings, pipes, valves, taps, geysers, drainage systems, tools, and related hardware.
- Achieve and exceed monthly sales targets through active selling, upselling, and cross-selling.
- Provide expert technical advice on plumbing products, installations, and troubleshooting to build customer trust and loyalty.
- Process sales transactions accurately using POS systems, handle cash/ card payments, and manage stock queries.
- Maintain high standards of store presentation, including merchandising, shelf stocking, and product displays in the plumbing section.
- Handle customer queries, returns, and complaints professionally.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations and stock availability.
- Stay updated on new plumbing products, trends, and promotions.

- Proven plumbing sales experience (minimum 2–3 years in a retail plumbing/hardware store, builders' merchant, or similar environment – essential).
- Strong product knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, brands, and applications (e.g., PVC, copper, brass fittings, water supply, drainage, sanitaryware).
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer-service oriented with a friendly, helpful, and proactive attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced retail setting.
- Reliable, punctual, and physically fit (able to lift stock and stand for long periods).
- Basic computer skills (POS systems, stock checks).
- Valid driver's license and own reliable transport (advantageous).
