Main Responsibilities:
Deliver and Review High-Level Designs (HLD, what will be built), Low-Level Designs (LLD, how the solution will be implemented) and Shop drawings (construction execution) of Data Center and CI Solutions.
Produce and Manage the Bill of Quantities (BoQ, A Cost & Quantity Document) and all other documentation required for high level project costs.
Understand the LLD, BoQ and responsibility matrix well and clarify these to the subcontractors.
Outline responsibility matrix, execute Heat load calculation, pressure drop calculations, specify main equipment needed.
Approve the final design brief for completion by relevant consultants.
Provide support for Project management, including sub-contractor selection & management, supply chain, procurement, process management and acceptance.
Oversee and supervise 3 rd party consultants and contractors during on-site Mechanical implementation while managing customer relationships.
Implement and Enforce the Mechanical Work SOP (Standard of Procedure) on-site ad ensure quality installations by subcontractors.
Technical Requirements:
+5 years experience in Mechanical Engineering in Data Center and/or Capital Improvement Projects (Mission-Critical & industrial projects).
+2 Large-Scale Data Center / CI Projects Delivered (no less than 1 megawatts)
Solid Experience with HVAC Systems (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems, Such as Chilled Water Systems, DX Systems, AHU Systems)
Fire Systems Integration (Fire suppression, Automatic fire alarms, Fire water systems, Fire foam systems) Plumbing and Drainage systems integration.Knowledge of Industry Standards ( Institute, TIA 942) and Technology Vendors that relate to Data Center facilities.
Knowledge of Mechanical Modelling Software (Revit, AutoCAD, etc.)
Solid knowledge of various Codes, Regulations, and Standards across South Africa.
Educational Requirements
A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Professional registration preferred.
IT / ICT or any business-related qualification will be an advantage.
