Senior Sous Chef - GeorgeOur client in the restaurant industry is on a recruitment drive for a dynamic, creative and passionate Sous Chef to join their team. The ideal candidate must be strong management skills, menu design and have worked in a high-volume environment - ability to maintain standards during service. Duties and Responsibilities:Manage the kitchen including staff, stock and health & hygiene standardsStaffing - rostering, training, mentoring, upskilling and dealing with staff issues / problems ensuring resolutionStock - ordering, receiving, checking and storage. Stock counts, identify product shortage, investigate and resolve. Proper storage of all food items in-line with Food Safety StandardsMaintain all health, hygiene and safety standards in the kitchenOversee the pass - plating, checking and garnishingLiaising with front of house for any orders that require special attentionWorking with Executive Chef / Owners on any promotional evenings including special events, wine pairing and tasting, conferences etc.Maintain food cost at acceptable levels Maintain staffing costs at acceptable levelsManage administration as required Any other duties as may deemed necessary from time to time Qualifications :
  • Matric - coupled with chef / culinary arts diploma
  • 5+ years in a similar role (restaurant bistro style)
  • Computer literate - MS Office Suite
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans
  • Own reliable transport (may need to assist at other restaurants)

Requirements:
