Vula Environmental Services specialises in landscaping and environmental rehabilitation, with our headquarters located in Cape Town. Our operational base extends across various projects throughout the Western Cape. We are currently looking for a committed and eager-to-learn Junior Safety Officer to support our health and safety team. The candidate will be required to work full-time at our offices in Morning Star, Cape Town. We seek an energetic individual capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
• Matric / Senior Certificate (essential)
• SAMTRAC or equivalent H&S training (completed or in progress)
• Valid driver’s licence with driving experience
• Accident Investigation experience
• 1-2 years of relevant safety experience (preferably in construction, landscaping, or environmental projects)
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Qualification/certification in the following would be beneficial:
• ISO 45001:2018
• ISO 14001:2015
• ISO 9001:2015
• SACPCMP registration (advantageous)
Responsibilities:
• Assist with daily site inspections and hazard identification.
• Support the compilation and updating of safety files, registers, and checklists.
• Help monitor compliance with site-specific safety plans and client requirements.
• Assist with conducting toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings under supervision.
• Record and report unsafe conditions, near misses, and minor incidents.
• Assist with PPE issuance and maintaining PPE registers.
• Participate in internal audits, site walkabouts, and contractor safety meetings.
• Help in gathering documentation for incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Learn and apply basic elements of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations.
• Maintain and file safety documentation accurately.
• Support senior SHEQ staff in maintenance of ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
