Description:
To fabricate, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical components and machinery with precision, ensuring operational reliability, safety, and efficiency. The role involves machining, fitting, turning, and general mechanical maintenance.Responsibilities:
Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and other tools. Manufacture, repair, and modify components per engineering drawings/specifications. Perform precision machining (turning, threading, boring, cutting). Use calipers, micrometers, and gauges for accurate measurements. Assemble, dismantle, and repair mechanical equipment and machinery. Install and align shafts, gears, bearings, and components. Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on machines/equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical faults and apply corrective actions. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Ensure work meets quality standards and tolerances. Follow OHS Act, company policies, and safety procedures. Collaborate with maintenance/engineering teams for reliability. Recommend process improvements in machining and maintenance. Mentor and support apprentices or junior staff. Essential Requirements:
Trade Test Certificate: Fitter & Turner (Red Seal preferred). N3/N4 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification. 25 years experience in industrial, manufacturing, or heavy engineering environments. Experience with lathes, milling machines, grinders, welding, and precision measuring tools. Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems advantageous.
