Duties includeLead by example: work on vehicles and actively participate in workshop operations Diagnose, test, and repair gearboxes, differentials, clutches, and drivetrains Ensure accurate and safe workmanship Ensure quality control Monitor and improve workshop productivity Mentor and lead a team of technicians Manage customer service and act as a service advisor when required Oversee workflow scheduling, resource allocation, and inventory management Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and output Report to the Owner Oversee all workshop operations, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Allocate jobs, monitor progress, and maintain workflow efficiency. Prepare accurate quotes, calculate labour and parts costs, and manage vehicle bookings. Ensure timely completion of jobs while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and inventory, ensuring proper usage and accountability. Liaise with customers and staff to investigate vehicle issues or repeat repairs, implementing corrective actions where necessary. Provide updates to management on workshop performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Requirements:
810 years of experience in automotive workshop management Mechanical trade test | Red Seal qualification Hands-on expertise with gearboxes, transmissions, diffs, clutches, and drivetrains Experience with passenger and light commercial vehicles (not trucks) Strong fault finding, diagnostics, and repair skills Leadership skills with a track record of managing and motivating teams Excellent customer service and service advisory skills Strong productivity management and quality control mindset Must lead from the front and actively work on vehicles alongside the team Proven experience in workshop management and team leadership. Excellent organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage staff and liaise with customers. Experience in training, mentoring, and developing workshop personnel. Commitment to quality, compliance, and continuous improvement. Motor Industry experience is a requirement.
