Description:
One member of the couple must hold a valid Trails qualification, with Lead Trails highly advantageous, as guided walks will form a key part of the role. The second candidate should preferably hold a back-up Trails qualification. The lodge is seeking candidates with strong bush knowledge, excellent guest interaction skills, and a calm, professional approach to encountering dangerous game on foot.Core Criteria:
- FGASA Trails Guide qualification (Lead Trails preferred)
- FGASA qualification with necessary add-ons (ARH, First Aid, DEAT/THETA etc.)
- Previous experience guiding in a Big 5 reserve
- Dangerous game experience on foot
- Strong safety awareness and situational judgement
- Valid drivers licence and PDP
- Excellent guest interaction and hosting skills
- Experience and passion for wildlife photography (advantageous)
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Professional, well-presented, and guest-focused approachCandidate Responsibilities:
- Conduct guided walks with a strong focus on safety, tracking, and guest engagement
- Deliver exceptional game drives and share in-depth knowledge of the bush
- Provide high-level hosting and guest relations throughout guest stay
- Assist with general lodge duties as part of the guiding team
- Maintain and care for all guiding equipment, rifles, and vehicles
- Contribute to daily reserve monitoring and reporting where needed
- Support conservation-minded practices and uphold lodge guiding standards
- Assist guests with photography, offering tips and positioning for optimal sightings
- Represent the lodge professionally at all timesThis is a live-in position.
