To ensure the Groups Africa products are engineered to market requirements by designing, developing, testing, and introducing locally manufactured components; by adapting and developing the Groupsourced designs to be compatible with the Groups Africaresponsible markets environmental conditions; and by issuing technical data in line with the correct component engineering standards to meet the following criteria:The Groups Africa products are built problem-free Regional requirements for local content and technical support are met Development of innovative and unique product features Safety and reliability in service Technical support for discontinued models still required in Africa Technical development that adheres to the required Product Emergence Process (PEP) manual
Possible Tasks within this Role
Apply sound knowledge of vehicle component systems such as the drivetrain, exhaust system, fuel system, air conditioning system, cooling system, etc. Prepare, issue, and maintain technical data for Chassis, Powertrain, and automotive Heating-Ventilation-Air-Conditioning (HVAC) components and systems. Support Production, Logistics, Warranty, and Quality teams, and assist with special investigations. Specify, test, and release Chassis/Powertrain/HVAC components and systems to ensure adherence to internal and external requirements. Create and track development and release timing plans; prepare development and release reports. Evaluate and implement design changes and material cost-saving ideas. Support suppliers throughout the development and localization phases. Communicate and cooperate with relevant Group counterparts (e.g., Group headquarters, koda, Brazil) for project alignment. Apply root-cause analysis tools, implement corrective actions, and introduce preventative measures.Qualification Requirements
National Diploma / BTech / BSc / BEng in Mechanical or Mechatronics EngineeringExperience Needed
Minimum 3 years relevant experience in the automotive or a similar engineering fieldEssentials
Knowledge of modern Chassis/Powertrain/HVAC components and systems Knowledge of modern automotive production methods Knowledge of project-management principles Understanding of basic financial principles Self-motivation, good time-management skills, and strong report-writing and presentation abilities Ability to conduct technical presentations Ability to work and communicate effectively with people at all levels MS Office proficiency Code 08 drivers license
