The Perdeberg Group, situated in the Paarl Wine region , is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Group Financial Manager to lead the finance function of their growing group. This is a senior leadership role suited to a CA(SA) who enjoys partnering with the business, providing strategic financial insight, and ensuring strong governance, compliance, and financial sustainability.
The successful candidate will play a key role in executive decision-making, board reporting, and shaping the financial direction of the group while leading and developing a capable finance team.
KPA’s will include: *Financial Leadership & Reporting: Take full accountability for the group’s finance function, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management; Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and statutory requirements; Deliver management reports to support strategic and operational decision-making; Lead the annual operating and capital budgeting process and monitor performance against approved budgets. *Strategic Business Partnering: Partner with the CEO and executive team to support business strategy, growth initiatives, and investment decisions; Provide financial analysis, scenario modelling, and risk assessment; Translate financial strategy into practical, measurable business plans. *Governance, Risk & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, tax, and governance requirements; Oversee tax planning, submissions, and engagements with SARS; Manage the external audit process and maintain relationships with auditors; Maintain a strong internal control environment and financial risk management framework. *Stakeholder Engagement: Prepare and present financial reports to the Board, shareholders, and Board sub-committees; Act as the primary financial liaison with banks, auditors, and other external stakeholders; Support funding, financing, and banking arrangements where required. *People Management: Lead, coach, and develop a finance team of approximately 15 employees; Drive performance management, skills development, and succession planning within the finance function; Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• Registration as Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) – essential;
• Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience in a senior financial management role, including engaging at executive and board level;
• Proven experience leading and developing a finance team;
• Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance;
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and South African regulatory requirements;
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (Pastel/Palladium advantageous).
