Description:
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and results-oriented Farms Manager to take overall responsibility for the daily operations and strategic development of the farms department. This pivotal role requires a hands-on leader who can manage all phases of agricultural production.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Operational Leadership: Plan, organize, and supervise all daily farm activities, including planting, cultivating, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.
• Production & Quality Control: Implement best agricultural practices to maximize yield, enhance product quality, and minimize post-harvest losses. Oversee sorting, packaging, and storage processes.
• Financial Management: Collaborate with senior staff to prepare and manage budgets, forecast expenditures, control costs, and analyse financial reports to ensure profitability targets are met.
• Staff Management: Recruit, train, lead, and mentor a diverse team of farm workers and technical staff, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Marketing: negotiating contracts with suppliers.
• Equipment & Infrastructure: Oversee the maintenance and repair of all farm machinery, equipment, vehicles, and facilities, ensuring they are in good working order and comply with safety regulations.
• Compliance & Sustainability: Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, including relevant agricultural laws and certifications.
• Innovation & Strategy: Stay abreast of developments in agricultural science and technology, implementing innovative farming techniques and precision agriculture solutions to drive growth and efficiency.
