Description:
Required Experience· 8-10+ years in enterprise backup operations, including 3-5 years in a leadership role managing teams of 5-10 engineers across multiple clients.â??
· Hands-on expertise with Veritas NetBackup (upgrades, troubleshooting, replication), Commvault (CommServe migrations, encryption keystore management, database restores), and secondary tools like Veeam.
· Proven track record managing backup infrastructure for 20+ sites or clients, including media servers, tape libraries, deduplication (DDB).
· Experience in database backups/recoveries for Oracle (RMAN), SAP, MSSQL, integrated with VMware virtualization and Linux/Windows environments.â??
· Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and execution.
· Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
· Leading hardware refreshes, cloud integrations.
· ITIL-certified project management for disaster recovery planning, capacity forecasting, and SLA compliance in high-availability environments.â??
· Vendor support escalations, root cause analysis, and creating as-built documentation for enterprise-scale deployments.â??
TECHNICAL / LEGAL CERTIFICATION
· Commvault Certified Professional
· NetBackup v10.x or higher
· VMware Training (Advantageous)
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead and mentor a team of backup engineers and administrators supporting diverse client backup environments 24x7x365 days.
· Manage and maintain enterprise backup solutions, such as Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Veeam, or similar platforms.
· Develop, implement, and enforce backup policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure data integrity and compliance.
· Coordinate and execute backup and disaster recovery strategies tailored for each clients environment and business needs.
· Plan, coordinate, and perform regular backup and recovery audits to assess integrity, compliance, and effectiveness of backup processes.
· Review audit findings and prepare reports for senior management; ensure remediation actions for identified weaknesses are tracked and completed.
· Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and proactively resolve technical issues to minimize downtime and data loss.
· Collaborate with clients IT teams to understand their backup requirements and deliver customized solutions.
