Description:

A private Medical Oncology practice in Parktown is seeking an experienced Authorisations Clerk to manage medical aid pre-authorisations and related clinical administration. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent follow-up skills, and the ability to work closely with doctors, medical aids, pharmacies, and patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and submit medical aid authorisations and extensions

  • Compile treatment plans, scripts, test results, and clinical motivations

  • Follow up on authorisations and communicate outcomes to doctors and patients

  • Liaise with medical aids, pharmacies, suppliers, and patients

  • Maintain accurate electronic and hardcopy patient records

  • Handle appeals, reporting, and audit-ready documentation

  • Assist with CT scan approvals, chemotherapy bookings, and patient assistance funding

  • Perform ad hoc duties as required by doctors or practice manager

        • Familiarity with SAOC guidelines (advantageous)

        • Strong communication, organisational, and administrative skills

      • Matric (Grade 12)

      • Suitably qualified in line with the Employment Equity Act

      • Experience in medical aid authorisations (oncology advantageous)

      • Knowledge of ICD-10 coding and medical aid processes

      • Familiarity with SAOC guidelines (advantageous)
