Our company is a leading food manufacturing and processing factory, proudly serving major retailers across South Africa. We are committed to quality, efficiency, and reliability. We are seeking a highly skilled, resilient and self-motivated Maintenance Technician to join our team.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facility by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment, while also supporting general building maintenance.
Requirements:
- Perform electrical fault finding, diagnosis and repair on production equipment including, dryers, roasters, boilers, conveyors, milling machines, motors and PLC -controlled systems.
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance on all electrical components of production equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical panels, motor control centers, switchgears, and distribution systems
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and equipment history records
- Assist in installation, startup and commissioning of new equipment, electrical systems, instrumentation and control systems.
- Respond to production calls and breakdowns promptly to reduce downtime.
- Ensures complete operations by developing schedules, assigning, and monitoring work, gathering resources, implementing productivity standards, resolving operations problems, maintaining reference manuals, and implementing new procedures
- Assists in conducting inventory
- Reports safety hazards identified in the workplace to management
- Ensure proper training, knowledge and use on operating and maintaining machinery
- Observe and maintain safety levels with particular attention to machinery and electrical equipment, and handling strong ingredients of raw materials
- Ensure knowledge is applied towards quality and safety management in the workplace
- Ensure feedback is provided to management regarding the status of job completion, challenges faced, potential challenges, and providing solutions
- Ensure time management and organization in completion of tasks and delegating responsibilities
- Strong background in electrical maintenance
- Experience with food processing equipment
- Experience with repairs and maintenance of coldrooms
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced food industry environment
- 1+ years in work-related skills, knowledge or experience
- Experience in food manufacturing factory highly advantageous
- Degree, Diploma and/or Trade Certification in electrical.
