Introduction:
Our Client a well-established Supplier and Transporter of bricks, pavers and cement in Empangeni is seeking a full-time Hydraulic Mechanic to join their team.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnosis and Troubleshooting: Identify faults and malfunctions in hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Repair and Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance (PMs), and repair or replace defective components, including pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, and filter assemblies. Inspections and Compliance: Perform thorough safety checks and inspections (e.g., DOT compliance) to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and meet all safety and environmental regulations. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all services performed, repairs made, parts used, and inspection findings using company systems or handwritten work orders. Field Service: Respond to emergency roadside calls for sudden breakdowns, which may require working extended hours or weekends.Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of hydraulic principles, fluid dynamics, and system designs, as well as general diesel engine and mechanical aptitude. Tool Proficiency: Expertise in using a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, specialized diagnostic equipment (e.g., pressure gauges, flow meters), and welding equipment. Physical Stamina: The ability to work in physically demanding, often greasy or oily environments, and in various weather conditions. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and decision-making skills to diagnose complex issues and determine the most effective solutions. Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with team members, and management, and to document work accurately.
