My client is looking for a Lead Electrician (Industrial Solar Projects) at their Elandsfontein, Gauteng facility.- This role is responsible for the
Minimum Requirements:
- Proof of Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (NQF Level 4)
- QCTO Red Seal Electrician Certification
- Up to 3 years’ hands-on solar installation experience (roof and ground mount systems)
- Experience with micro and string inverters, including system monitoring setup
- Computer literacy (MS Office Suite – Advanced Excel)
- National Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (NQF Level 6)
- AREP / SAPVIA PV Green Card Certification
- Exposure to ERP systems and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
- Experience in inverter testing (UPS, Rectifier) and PCB replacement
- Experience working on large-scale industrial or IPP-scoped solar projects
- Interpret and execute project plans and technical drawings in collaboration with the Project Supervisor
- Ensure installations are completed strictly according to approved designs and specifications
- Assemble solar array racking, seal roof penetrations, and install all photovoltaic system components
- Set up and configure solar monitoring systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues
- Perform inverter firmware updates and basic system testing
- Document installations, outcomes, and maintenance activities accurately
- Coordinate with Engineering and Installation teams to ensure seamless project execution
- Ensure all installations comply with SANS standards, industry codes, and original design specifications
- Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with a strong safety focus
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures to prevent fruitless, wasteful, and irregular expenditure
- Maintain accurate documentation and records
- Identify and report risks or non-compliance to the Project Supervisor
- Communicate with customers professionally at all times
- Ensure a positive customer experience throughout the installation process
- Maintain high client, customer, and internal satisfaction levels
- Ensure projects are completed within approved budgets and timeframes
- Monitor costs and material usage to minimize waste
- Work closely with crew members to meet deadlines and quality standards
- Support efficient inbound and outbound logistics related to installations and repairs
- Strong planning and organisational skills
