Introduction
As the Jewellery Processing Centre Manager, you will typically oversee the end-to-end operations of the facility which is dedicated to the refurbishment, valuation, and sale of jewellery. The JPC is a business unit that processes high volumes of pre-owned jewellery within the Crusaders Corporate Group of Stores.
Key Responsibilities
The manager is responsible for ensuring efficiency, quality control, and profitability within the processing centre.
Overseeing the workflow for cleaning, repairing, fixing, and remodelling jewellery items.
Implementing and enforcing stringent quality standards for all finished products before they are sold to customers.
Ensuring accurate valuation and the creation of appropriate certification for items (e.g., for diamonds, gemstones, and precious metals).
Managing stock levels, findings (components), stones, and implementing robust systems to prevent loss and shrinkage.
Leading, motivating, and managing a team of artisans, process controllers, and administrative staff.
Developing and implementing training programs for JPC staff on the proper procedures for buying, repairing and selling jewellery.
Coordinating the secure transport of items between stores, the processing centre, and suppliers/refineries.
Assisting with strategic projects related to the centre's operations and expansion.
Skills Required
Strong organizational and process management skills to ensure a seamless and efficient workflow.
Meticulous attention to detail, crucial for quality control of high-value items.
Ability to lead and develop a team and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders.
Desired Experience & Qualification
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in jewellery manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role within the jewellery or luxury retail sector.
A Grade 12 qualification is a basic requirement.
A relevant tertiary qualification, such as a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, or Jewellery Design and Manufacture, is highly advantageous and often preferred by employers.
Specialist certifications, such as those from the Gemmological Institute of America (GIA), are valuable technical assets.
