Technical Assistant – Northern Suburbs, Cape TownFood Manufacturing | Technical / Quality / Food SafetyFull-time | On-siteOur client, a well-established gourmet food manufacturing business based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Technical Assistant to support the Technical Manager across all food safety, quality, and technical functions within the factory environment.This role plays a key part in maintaining food safety systems, supporting audits, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with statutory, customer, and certification requirements. Key Responsibilities:- Assist in maintaining and reviewing the FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System
- Support end-to-end food safety and quality management across the production lifecycle
- Assist with customer requirements, product specifications, and documentation control
- Support factory trials in line with customer and best-practice standards
- Participate in raw material management, including sensory evaluations
- Assist with investigation of customer complaints and rejections using root cause analysis
- Support audits and regulatory inspections alongside the Technical Manager
- Assist in maintaining supplier quality assurance systems
- Support training and development initiatives within the factory
- Ensure all manufactured products have the required technical documentation in place
- BTech or BSc in Food Technology or Food Science
- ISO 22000 Internal Auditor certification (Lead Auditor advantageous)
- Training in HACCP, PRPs, and Food Safety systems
- 2–3 years’ experience in a similar technical or food safety role (advantageous)
- Good understanding of microbiology and food manufacturing processes
- Experience in the meat industry would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and documentation control skills
- Good communication, teamwork, and time management abilities
- Training in OHS and firefighting would be advantageous
