Description:
Lory Park is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Team to support the upkeep, safety, and development of our animal enclosures, visitor facilities, and staff areas. This role is hands-on and varied, and plays a critical part in ensuring high standards of animal welfare, staff safety, and visitor experience.
Key Responsibilities
- General maintenance of zoo infrastructure, including enclosures, pathways, fences, and buildings
- Construction and building work, including: Steel and wood structures Enclosure modifications and upgrades
- Basic brickwork, concrete work o Tiling, painting and plastering Preventative maintenance and fault reporting
- Working closely with animal care staff to ensure projects meet welfare and safety requirements
- Responding to urgent maintenance issues
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience in maintenance and building/construction work
- Strong practical skills
- Physically fit and reliable
- Ability to work safely around animals and follow strict biosecurity and safety protocols
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Advantageous Skills
- Experience working in a zoo, farm, wildlife, or outdoor facility
- Plumbing and/or electrical certification
- Problem-solving and basic project management skills
