A very well-established restaurant is looking for an experienced Head Chef to join their team on a full-time permanent basis (shifts includes weekends). Extremely good compensation package on offer.
Position Overview:
The Head Chef will lead the kitchen team and oversee all food operations and production, maintaining quality and consistency, controlling food costs, and ensuring health and safety compliance. The role combines hands-on cooking with leadership, planning, and operational management. The role includes managing daily service, maintaining food quality and consistency, menu development, cost control, and ensuring health and safety standards are met.
Position Requirements:
• Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef
• Relevant culinary qualification preferred (but experience is essential)
• Strong leadership, people-management skills and organizational skills
• Solid knowledge of food costing and kitchen operations
• Excellent cooking and plating skills
• Solid understanding of food costing and stock control
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the kitchen team
• Oversee food preparation, quality, and presentation
• Develop and cost menus
• Manage stock, ordering, and food costs
• Ensure hygiene, safety, and HACCP compliance
• Train and schedule kitchen staff
• Kitchen Leadership & Operations
• Lead, manage, and motivate the kitchen team
• Plan and execute daily service to a high standard
• Develop and enforce kitchen systems and workflows
• Ensure smooth coordination between kitchen and front-of-house
• Menu Development
• Create, develop, and update menus in line with the restaurant’s concept
• Cost menus accurately and manage GP targets
• Design specials and seasonal offerings
• Adapt menus based on customer feedback and operational needs
• Food Safety & Hygiene
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations
• Maintain HACCP standards and kitchen cleanliness
• Conduct regular checks on food storage, labeling, and rotation
• Train staff on food safety procedures
• Stock & Cost Control
• Manage ordering, stock levels, and supplier relationships
• Control food waste and minimize losses
• Conduct stock takes and monitor food costs
• Ensure kitchen operates within budget
• Foster a positive, professional kitchen culture
