Company and Job Description:Approximately 60% of the role centers on design activities, while the remaining 40% involves on-site support and hands-on engagement with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot, provide guidance, and optimize systems during and after deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret project specifications and develop electrical and automation system designs that comply with client requirements and regulatory standards.
- Create electrical layouts and automation solutions, including panel schematics, cable routing, and product integration.
- Produce accurate technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.
- Work closely with sales, operations, and technical teams to align design objectives with business goals.
- Deliver technical assistance during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.
- Collaborate with field engineers to resolve complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive design records and ensure adherence to quality and engineering standards.
- Continuously enhance design processes, drawing libraries, and component standards to improve efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety codes, electrical regulations, and industry best practices.
Job Experience & Skills Required:- Hands-on technical support or field engineering background.
- Experience with system integration, commissioning, or maintenance projects.
- Familiarity with panel building, electrical installation, or switchgear applications.
- Customer-facing experience in technical solution delivery.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for site visits and field support.
- Professional Engineer registration or eligibility.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng or equivalent).
- At least 5 years experience in electrical or automation system design within industrial or commercial environments.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical) for creating schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles, standards (SANS, IEC), and protection systems.
- Practical knowledge of power and automation systems.
- Ability to interpret and produce technical documentation and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
