Position Overview
Mobii is seeking a Technical Operations Support to join our Cape Town office and support our global live-streaming operations. This is an office-based role requiring daily presence at our Cape Town facility, where you will work alongside the Live Operations Manager to execute the technical delivery of high-quality live sports and event video distribution to clients worldwide.
As a member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the hands-on technical execution of live events, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring broadcast quality standards are maintained. This role suits someone with solid technical fundamentals who enjoys working in the fast-paced environment of live sports broadcasting and wants to develop their skills in a supportive team environment.
The Role
This position is ideal for a technically capable professional with live video operations experience who can work effectively under pressure, follow established procedures, and learn quickly. You'll be working directly with our Live Operations Manager and engineering teams to deliver successful live broadcasts across multiple time zones from our Cape Town operations center.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Execution & Monitoring
· Execute technical workflows for live-streaming sporting events according to established run books and procedures
· Monitor audio, video, and streaming quality metrics during live events, identifying and flagging issues promptly
· Operate and maintain cloud-based streaming infrastructure and hardware systems for live productions
· Conduct pre-event technical checks and system validation according to documented procedures
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
· Provide first-level technical support during live events, troubleshooting audio, video, and streaming issues
· Implement fixes for common technical issues following established procedures and escalation protocols
· Document all technical incidents with detailed notes on symptoms, actions taken, and resolutions
· Assist with root cause analysis and contribute to the development of preventative measures
Operations Assistance
· Support the Live Operations Manager in coordinating multiple simultaneous live productions
· Communicate with field teams and remote operators regarding technical setup and configuration
· Maintain awareness of event schedules and prepare systems according to operational requirements
· Assist with operational briefings and contribute observations to post-event debriefs
System Maintenance & Documentation
· Perform routine maintenance and health checks on streaming infrastructure and broadcast systems
· Help maintain technical documentation including signal flow diagrams, configuration guides, and troubleshooting procedures
· Update operational logs and maintain accurate records of system configurations and changes
· Assist in testing new equipment, software updates, and workflow improvements
Learning & Development
· Develop proficiency with Mobii's proprietary systems, AI-powered production tools, and broadcast infrastructure
· Learn from experienced team members and actively work to expand technical knowledge and capabilities
· Stay current with industry developments in live streaming technology and broadcast operations
· Contribute ideas for process improvements and operational efficiency

- Computer Networks: 1 to 2 years

Required Qualifications
Experience & Background
· Minimum 2-3 years in live broadcast, streaming operations, or related technical production environments
· Hands-on experience with live video workflows, signal routing, and broadcast systems
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively during live events and time-sensitive situations
· Experience working in team-based technical operations environments
Technical Knowledge
· Solid understanding of digital audio/video fundamentals, video compression, and streaming formats
· Familiarity with video transport protocols such as SDI, SRT, RTMP, or HLS/DASH
· Basic understanding of network fundamentals and IP-based video delivery
· Comfortable working with both cloud-based systems and traditional broadcast hardware
· Ability to use monitoring tools and interpret technical metrics for video and audio quality
