Description:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Fleet Manager to oversee the efficient operation, maintenance, and compliance of our vehicle fleet. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing fleet performance, reducing operational costs, ensuring safety standards, and supporting business operations through effective fleet management.
- Operational Management: Manage the day-to-day operation of the company’s mixed fleet, specifically Earth Moving Equipment (Yellow Metal) and support vehicles, across client sites (Mining, Industrial, and Landfill).
- Maintenance Strategy: Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs specifically for heavy plant equipment, focusing on hydraulic systems, undercarriage wear, and Ground Engaging Tools (GETs).
- Note: Must tailor maintenance schedules to handle high-corrosion environments (fertilizer plants) and high-wear terrain (landfills/chrome mines).
o Safety & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) , OHS Act, and specific site safety file requirements for mining and industrial clients.
§ Ensure all equipment meets site-specific "mine-spec" standards (e.g., rollover protection, fire suppression).
§ Telematics & Utilization: Act as custodian of the GPS and Telematics system, monitoring not just location, but engine hours, idling times, and abusive operation to extend machine life and bill accurately.
§ Cost Control: Monitor fuel burn rates, tire life, and operating costs per machine hour to ensure profitability on service contracts.
§ Vendor Management: Coordinate with heavy equipment OEMs, workshops, and suppliers to source parts efficiently and minimize downtime.
§ Staff Supervision: Lead fleet-related staff and drivers; verify validity of Operator Competency Certificates and coordinate refresher training.
§ Reporting: Analyze fleet data and prepare performance reports, specifically tracking machine availability vs. downtime.
§ Incident Management: Investigate accidents and incidents (including property damage at client sites) and implement corrective actions.
