Description:
- Summary of Role: Responsible for identifying and procuring the goods and services that the organization requires. Identify external material needs of the organization, find services providers who can supply these goods, negotiate for prices and arrange for the purchase and delivery of the goods.
1. Supplier Evaluation & Selection
- Assess and select suppliers based on technical capability, quality, cost, and reliability.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors.
2. Procurement of Technical Goods
- Source and purchase items like machinery, components, tools, or industrial services.
- Interpret technical specifications and ensure purchases meet those criteria.
3. Negotiation & Cost Management
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality standards.
4. Collaboration with Engineering Teams
- Work closely with engineering, production, or R&D teams to understand technical needs.
- Assist in developing product specifications or resolving technical issues with suppliers.
5. Contract & Compliance Management
- Manage purchase orders and contracts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
6. Market & Technology Research
- Stay up-to-date with market trends and emerging technologies.
- Evaluate new suppliers, products, and innovations.
7. Ensuring the products are delivered/collected on time.
8. Stock/Inventory control and management, stock level monitoring & stock replenishments.
9. Assist with PO information/allocation is captured correctly on ordering system.
10. Assist with DN/Invoice reaches admin department for processing.
11. The Buyer shall be on standby as per the standby schedule to ensure coverage for urgent procurement or supplier issues outside of regular working hours

- Knowledge of Mining & Crushing Products / Industrial Tools.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a procurement or buying role within a technical or engineering environment.
- Team Player.
- Computer Literate, Proficient in Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level.
- Good Communications Skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Attending to detail to ensure specifications are being met and quality of purchases is up to standard.
- Displaying admirable negotiating skills in order to get the best deals.
- Demonstrating a passion for the type of products being purchased and a willingness to continuously stay up-to date on trends.
- Must be able to work under pressure.
- Valid Driver License.
- Grade 12.
