Upmarket restaurant in Northern Suburbs requires a griller with experience in the role.
The Griller is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of grilled food items to the highest standards. The role involves working with different types of meats, seafood, and vegetables, ensuring food is cooked properly, presented attractively, and served in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Grilling and Cooking:
Prepare, season, and grill meats, seafood, and vegetables to order. Ensure grilling techniques are followed to provide consistently high-quality cooked dishes. Monitor grilling temperatures and adjust cooking time based on food type and thickness. Use a variety of grilling equipment, such as gas and charcoal grills, and ensure they are maintained properly.Food Preparation:
Assist in the preparation of ingredients such as marinades, rubs, and sauces. Prepare food items ahead of time as required, including cutting, marinating, or seasoning proteins and vegetables.Food Presentation:
Ensure that all dishes are presented in a visually appealing manner. Follow the restaurant’s plating guidelines and check final presentation before serving.Health and Safety Compliance:
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the grilling area. Ensure all food is cooked to the appropriate internal temperature to prevent foodborne illness. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handling and storage of raw and cooked items.Stock Management:
Monitor stock levels for grilling ingredients, ensuring enough supply for daily service. Report any stock shortages or issues to the kitchen manager.Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other kitchen staff, including prep cooks, sous chefs, and servers, to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations. Communicate effectively to manage orders and timings.Time Management:
Ensure food orders are prepared and grilled within the designated time frame. Balance grilling multiple orders at once, ensuring consistency and quality.Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience:
Previous experience working as a griller or in a similar kitchen role (e.g., grill cook, line cook). Knowledge of grilling techniques, including how to properly grill various meats and vegetables.Skills:
