An opportunity arises for a technical buyer at our Cape Town branch
The technical buyer will be responsible for the procurement of mechanical,electrical, casting deck stores for vessels, ensuring compliance and technical specifications,quality standards & efficient delivery to meet urgent maritime operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Sourcing & procurement - identify,evaluate and select local and international suppliers for various technical goods in line with the requirements
*Technical Evaluation & Compliance - Review technical specifications ,collaborate with teams and vessel officials to ensure purchase items meet precise operational & quality standards
* Negotiation & Cost Management - Negotiate contracts,pricing and terms with vendors
* Supplier relationship management - Build and maintain strong,professional relationship with suppliers
*Inventory & logistics management - Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishments
*Documentation & Administration - Maintain accurate procurement records prepare and process purchase orders using In house software(Zeatech) and handle all relevant documentation invoices and queries
*Problem Resolution - identify and resolve procurement related issues, delivery delays
*Regulatory Knowledge - Ensure all procurement practices adhere to local regulations , customs ,port rules and company policies
Qualification & Skills
Education - Matric
National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management or related (advantageous)
Experience - proven track record +3 years experience as Buyer preferable maritime
Strong negotiation & analytical abilities
proficiency in ERP Systems and Excel
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
strong attention to detail and ability to work independently under pressure
Salary : R20000 - R25000 ( potential growth)
