We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our construction firm in Centurion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the full financial function, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry-specific accounting standards. Proficiency with BuildSmart accounting software is a non-negotiable requirement for this role.Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full financial function using BuildSmart software.
- Oversee general ledger (GL) entries and execute monthly reconciliations (bank and balance sheet).
- Prepare and analyse the trial balance (TB).
- Assist with the preparation of full financial statements (FS).
- Track project-specific costs and manage job costing within the construction environment.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, retentions, and progress billing.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations (VAT and income tax) and support year-end audits.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Education: BCom Degree in Accounting or a related field (essential).
- Experience: 3-5 years of proven accounting experience, preferably within the construction or a project-based industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Extensive exposure to the full financial function (GL, reconciliations, and TB, up to FS preparation).
- Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with BuildSmart construction accounting software is mandatory.
- Work Style: A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
