Our client, a prominent international clearing and forwarding company, is seeking an experienced Senior Ocean Freight Export Controller to join their dynamic team in Isando, Johannesburg . This senior role is critical in ensuring smooth ocean export operations, resolving queries promptly, and providing relief cover for the National Ocean Freight Manager when required.
Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 ; SDS and/or Freight Forwarding qualification advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a clearing & forwarding environment.
- Strong knowledge of Bills of Lading, customs procedures, documentation, and client billing .
- Sound understanding of Incoterms, Ocean Export tariffs, and operational practices .
- Experience in projects considered an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills , attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle Bills of Lading , customs entries, clearance documentation, job costing, and client billing.
- Maintain accurate records and client information
- Ensure compliance with Incoterms, Ocean Export tariffs, and statutory clearance procedures .
- Resolve client, service provider, and internal queries professionally and timeously .
- Take responsibility for job profitability , including accurate job costing and billing.
- Track, trace, and arrange timely dispatch of cargo , including insurance cover where required.
- Ensure paperless working environment and timely entry of documentation.
- Support team goals, participate in meetings, and suggest improvements to increase efficiencies .
- Provide relief cover for the National Ocean Freight Manager when required.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 17:00
Salary & Benefits:
- Competitive CTC: R38,000 - R42,000 , depending on experience.
- Includes Provident Fund contributions.
