General Manager

Our client, a premium, large agricultural estate located just outside Wellington, is looking for a dynamic and successful General Manager to provide full strategic oversight of all agricultural operations, and drive the estate’s long-term growth.

This role requires a strong winemaking professional with excellent leadership abilities, commercial insight, and a proven track record of selling premium wine at larger volumes internationally. The ideal candidate takes initiative, approaches challenges proactively, and maintains a strong long-term vision across the estate’s vineyards, orchards, production units, and sales channels.

Duties will include (but will not be limited to): *Provide strategic oversight and management of all vineyard operations and seasonal agricultural activities *Oversee and run the wine cellar and the full winemaking process at a high-level, quality-focused standard *Lead, mentor, and support the vineyard and orchard managers to ensure alignment and consistent performance *Drive and grow wine sales locally and internationally, building and maintaining strong buyer relationships *Oversee and manage the citrus and olive expansion projects in collaboration with an external consultant *Ensure operational efficiency and the highest quality standards across all agricultural units *Maintain compliance with best practices, policies, and production guidelines *Perform any additional duties reasonably associated with the role.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture (Oenology or Viticulture);
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar Senior Management role;
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally several times a year;
• Outstanding track record of international sales;
• Experience in modern, technology-driven agriculture.
