An Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our construction firm in Centurion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the full financial function, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry-specific accounting standards. Proficiency with BuildSmart accounting software is a non-negotiable requirement for this role

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full financial function (FFF) using BuildSmart software.
• Oversee General Ledger (GL) entries and execute monthly reconciliations (bank, balance sheet).
• Prepare and analyse the trial balance (TB).
• Assist in the preparation of full financial statements (FS).
• Track project-specific costs and manage job costing within the construction environment.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, retentions, and progress billing.
• Ensure compliance with all tax regulations (VAT, Income Tax) and support year-end audits Job Experience and Skills Required:
  Education: BCom Degree in Accounting or a related field (essential).
  
  Experience: 3 - 5 years of proven accounting experience, preferably within the construction or a project-based industry.
  
  Technical Knowledge: Extensive exposure to the full financial function (GL, Reconciliations, TB, up to FS preparation).
  
  Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with BuildSmart construction accounting software is mandatory.
  Work Style: A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
